Democracy In Egypt

Throughout history there was many events that happened about the topic of "Democracy." Some examples of this are Representative democracy and direct democracy. Democracy holds a strong impact on the world today.

Democracy is a system of government by the whole population or all eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives: capitalism and democracy are ascendant in the third world.

Today in Egypt many women protested in the apartment of the eighty- year old Egyptian dissident and writer Nawal EL Saadawi. According to The New Yorker. Before women were not allowed or mentioned in the democracy. Women didn't fell this was right. EL Saadawi who has been known as the godmother of Egyptian feminism said, "The blood of the women killed in the revolution was still wet, and we were being betrayed." Which means that they had/have all right to have a say in the democracy.El Saadawi wrote over forty books. When she converse about Egyptian Presidents, she always seems to always talk about their wives. she also states that "women have no rights because we are no united."Meaning that women don't come together and stand up for their rights. Everyone wants change however no one wants to do something about it, which wouldn't cause anything to happen. Therefore if change was wanted women would have to then come together and voice their opinon and stand up for what they believe in. Even with the dissapointments from the people with the treatment from the police they still complain about the absence of the police.

According to Al Ahram weekly on line "cop out" this article was written in march of this year (2011). It shows the relations between the public and the police. Some people would describe it as harsh or cruel. A lot of innocent people are being killed. 25 January happened to be Police Day and the spark that ignited the revolution according to the article. At first the relationship between the public and the police was normal but later it changed into the desperate attempts by the police on 28 January to clampdown on the protest movement that soured the once promising relationship.

In conclusion democracy holds a very big impact on the world today. It also holds a great impact on the people. women was one of a large group of people that was affected by it. they wanted so little, however it took so much to get it done. having their voice heard was the one and only hing they wanted and fought for so long. they held protests and put together meetings. Many innocent people, man and women, were being killed. My personal opinon democracy is that its over rated. meaning it states one thing then does another.
